Alimony Reform Bill #5509: Our original proposal in 2012.

Unfortunately, the Judiciary Committee decided not to bring Raised Bill No. 5509 forward for a vote and therefore it will not go to the full House or Senate for consideration. Although the hearings on March 19 2012, brought out many serious reasons why reform is critical, the opposition carried the day. Still, our concerns were heard loudly and clearly, and we have started vital conversations among legislators, lawyers, and ordinary citizens who get divorced every day in Connecticut. These conversations will continue, and, with your help, our membership and our public presence will keep growing in the weeks and months to come. We are hard at work developing the next stages of our strategy, in the meantime, thank you for joining us, and please continue to stay in touch with us as we all know how vital (necessary) reform is in our great State. Please encourage friends and family to join CTAR. Please become a member if you are not already a member, and, if you can, please consider a donation. We will contact members when we are ready to move forward on the next leg of this long, important journey. In the meantime, thank you for joining us and working as hard as you have worked for this cause. Please continue to contact your legislators on this issue, and to thank those who have indicated that they support reform.
